I was looking at my sad blog site yesterday and noted that I had not posted an entry in a solid week. I just shook my head, but had no gumption to come up with anything worth posting. I didn't think anyone would want to read about how I have been sick for "so long" and my husband "even longer." The flu is going around and it takes awhile to feel better folks. I wish I could provide a bit of comfort to each and everyone who has been touched by this nasty bit of contagion.
I've been blessed beyond measure.
I say that a lot.
It is just because I mean it a lot.
I. AM. BLESSED. BEYOND. MEASURE.
Yesterday morning when I was traveling along the byways to my 8-5 I was observing the sunrise. It was remarkable. So beautiful. I wished. No, I WISHED, I had my camera with me and a spot of time to park my car and click away. It was so fantastic, brilliant and bright. Then I noticed her, a little Amish girl walking alongside the byway, on her way to her little Amish parochial school house, and she was walking, yet turning her head as she was walking, taking in that beautiful sunrise behind her. I felt the tears well up in my eyes, so precious to watch a little one pause in her life to observe the wonders of our Creator! So precious! I wish I had a picture for you all! It was so, so precious.
This morning. Again. The sunrise. So bright and boldly orange. The sun was this awesome ball of fire to my left as I was traveling to my 8-5. In fact, in my rear view mirror, at times, it was so bright, I had to adjust the mirror away or I would not have been able to drive. I don't think I could have gotten a picture had I had my camera with me. Too bright. But it was awesome. Awesome!
I shot this photo this past Fall from our property. We have a view that is absolutely fabulous!
I shared this picture before on another post, this was taken by my coworker, Bob, a couple months ago. He knew I would have liked to see this, so he was nice enough to send it to me.
My husband took me out to eat tonight. I was super tired, just drained, when I got home for the 8-5 and so he thought it a better idea that we dine out, rather than have me fire up the kitchen. Hand sanitizer, how I love thee for those germy times we dine out. After dinner we stopped at my parent's house for a fast visit. We hadn't been there in a long time and I wanted to see my great aunt. She has been sick and I knew she needed company to cheer her up. My husband, parents, sister and daughter in law played a game at the kitchen table and my great aunt and I sat on the couch and we chatted. She went back to her room and was gone for a little while and all of a sudden she came back with a big grin and handed me a card. She said she hand made the card for me and as I opened it she also had a monetary gift inside the card. I felt like crying. I don't want her money, but when I said so she put her hand up and got this serious look on her face, and said, "No, I want to give that to you, if it is enough, you have taken me to church and have been so kind to me, I want you to have it." Melt my heart!
This is one of my favorite pictures I have of my great aunt Beina. We both love cookbooks and so sometimes when I go over to visit her I will take a couple from my collection along and we sit and browse the recipes and discuss dishes we have made. (By the way, some of my readers may not know, my great aunt makes her home with my parents.)
Yesterday I received my new friend's manuscript in the mail. Talk about precious cargo! I am blessed to have been trusted with such a treasure! I can't wait to dive right in!
What about you? Sunrises, Little girls enjoying that sunrise, Sunsets, Great Aunts, Dinner out, Some else's treasure?
Whatever your blessings, I hope you are counting them.
PS...two of my greatest blessings, Mr. Wonderful and Little Guy!
He was helping me bake one day last summer. He puts his hands to his face like that to "pose". Grandma was taking too many pictures from the looks of his expression. I just love this little munchkin so much!
