some random thoughts on a deep freeze night

1. It's cold outside.

Sorry, I wanted to "say it" also.
(so many others have said it already)

I hope your family, friends and animals are all safely tucked into some warm spot tonight. I just saw a photo of a homeless man wrapped up in a blanket. I didn't read the story, but the headlines sounded like his family found him. But I paused and went "there"; I imagined being homeless, down on the ground, wrapped in a blanket and some warm clothing and thought how it might feel tonight. I know that by morning I would NOT be moving with my stiff joints and muscles. I am so thankful I have a warm roof over my head. A warm bed to sleep in and a heating pad and tools to use to stretch with so I don't stiffen up so much.

2. It is important to thank someone if they give you something or do something for you.

3. I have been feverishly doing laundry. My husband is sick, everyone around me is sick, we come home from where ever and drop all clothes and they get washed in the laundry and then we wash up really well too, because you just have to "try" and get rid of the germs somehow. Even when the doctor examined my husband the other day, she did NOT wash her hands before touching his neck. UGH! And walking through the store, folks are hacking like mad.

I called my friend tonight to see what she has been up to and she has had a cold since Wednesday night..she and her best friend both have the same kind of cold and she said that they were saying to each other how it is awful you have to stay home in almost solitary confinement when you are well because so many sick people are walking around out there and if you are well you will then get sick if you go out.

I thought they had a good point.

4. I have been receiving an amazing gift from a new friend, daily, in the form of an email or emails. She is telling me her life story. What a gift it is! She should have been an author, her tone and her writing skills are amazing. If I were an editor, I would be looking for folks like this woman! I can NOT thank her enough for the blessing she has been bringing into my life. Her life touched the depression era, especially her mother's life did, and the details are amazing, and wonderful and nostalgic. I spent an hour reading over her writings tonight. I hope to meet my new friend some day...sooner than later, she lives 201 miles from my house.

Yes, I Googled it.

It has been interesting, in the short time that I have my blog and my Facebook page up, who I have been in touch with. It is awesome! Inspiring! and such a Gift! I'm completely humbled and thankful for each of my readers and new friends I'm finding along my writing journey.

5. I am glad the holidays are all over. I love to celebrate Christ's birth, however, it is now time to settle into a routine.

I bet you guessed, I'm a routine type of person.

Boring!

6. I'm not a big television watcher, however, yesterday I was laying low, trying not to get sick, not in the mood to read or write, so I took the remote control in hand and surfed the television and I found - Storage Wars! I am sorry to say, I watched a lot of episodes and taped a few more for later.

Does that make me a fan now?????
