...continued from my adventures in amish land yesterday....
if you click on one of the photos they will morf into an album, I think and you can see the photos larger and in more detail. just a tip....
Many years ago my brother in law gained a hobby of providing housing for "The Martins". These apartment houses way up in the air are all numbered, you can see which apartment each "Martin" lives in. He is a great landlord and provides shelter for many feathery friends.
My trio tour guides of their farm, Maynard, Linda and Jolene. Here we are at the pig pen. We tried our best to get good shots, but it proved to be an almost impossible feat. When they saw this picture, they were like, "We didn't know you took a picture of us!" (They were happy about having their picture taken.)
Cutie pie Jolene, even the piglets paused from their rooting around in the mud to observe this cutie patootie.
This kitty cat does not have a name my trio disclosed because she is "wild and just hangs out with the pigs". I loved, loved some of their explanations of why things are the way they are on their farm. The kitty cat seemed completely comfortable with her piglet friends.
This is the best picture I got of the piglets while my trio tour guides were with me.
Later in the day I went outside by myself and I got some shots that I liked better of the piglets. They seemed to want to know me when I was by myself.
Love the noses. oink oink!
There was a pile of wood under the overhanging roof by the pig pen and all of a sudden I must have felt someone watching me. There she was...no name kitty cat.
I couldn't resist showing you this shot. So dirty, but such a happy piglet. He was giving me the "hairy eyeball" I think, or his version of one. lol
No name kitty cat was playing hide and seek, but I found her right there behind the post. :)
And a bit later she looked like she was sleeping, so I shot her right there sleeping.
But then I noticed she had her gaze fixated on something under the door of the barn.
I suspect a mouse.
I was found out, she didn't seem to appreciate my camera making noises.
Sorry no name.
Somehow I wanna name her. Maybe I should have a contest and see what everyone wants to call her? Tell me what you would name her. I will tell my trio tour guides your suggestions.
My sister in law's chickens. She has fourteen, but they only get thirteen eggs a day.
Someone is not doing her job on the farm!
Very content bunch of chickens.
This is probably my favorite shot of the animals. Can you all see why? Tell me what you think over on my Facebook page.
At this point my trio tour guides left me, they wanted to go hear "Cheryl play her keyboard and sing Christmas songs."
I was not offended. I'm sure Cheryl's musical skills far exceed anything they would have experienced with me.
wink wink
The Amish neighbor whose 4 year old son was killed in a farming accident this fall, and his baby girl has been sick since she was born nine months ago was hauling manure while we were there.
going...
gone....
Prince.
That is the brown and white pony's name. He saw me and was "game" for posing.
A lot.
You will see.
Prince.
He was convinced he was the star of this show.
"Do you like this pose?"
"What do you mean, make sexy lips?"
I have a feeling my brother in law is behind this birdhouse on a fence post at the side of the road.
"What do you mean, I'm not ready for the big time?"
I walked up the road.
And down the road.
"Is this smile better?"
Love the red barn through the tall trees.
Mr. Manure Spreader neighbor friend returning to his barn for another load.
And back to various shots of the barn through the tall trees.
Almost home.
Mini water fall frozen over, but the water was still running beneath the ice.
Buggy tracks.
Another road, this one was uphill a bit.
This root system was so beautiful in the winter whites.
This is what it looks like when you give up a dream you think you have and are content to do what you do best.
Prince, I love you no matter which pasture you graze in.
Not sure, but have a feeling this is a maple syrup cooking shanty.
More scenery around the farm.
When I was finished shooting pictures I went inside and my sister in law and my trio tour guides and various others wanted to see my pictures. When I was showing them to my sister in law who lives on the farm, she got really quiet when we came to this photo and she asked, "Where is that?" I said, "Out there across the road." She said, "Boy, when you see someone's pictures of your place it looks so much nicer than you think it is."
I know she approved and it made her feel warm to know she lives in such a beautiful place.
I love that I was able to show it to her through my eyes.
Oh, and ummm, there are more pictures. I will have to say...to be continued...bacuz, I truly have more to show you! It is just time for this gal to go get some shut eye!
